God Will Make Your Paths Straight

Sermon Opening

Beloved church, have you ever felt that despite effort and prayer, life still seems confusing and crooked? Why does the journey feel uncertain even when we try our best?

Proverbs 3:1–6 reminds us that straight paths are not the result of human intelligence, but divine guidance.

Textual Background

Proverbs, largely written by Solomon, teaches wisdom rooted in the fear of the Lord. This passage presents a father’s instruction, emphasizing that life aligned with God leads to clarity and direction.

Point I – Straight Paths Begin with Hearts Anchored in God’s Word

• God’s Word must be treasured

• Obedience shapes a whole life
  Peace (shalom) reflects wholeness, not mere comfort.
• The Word guides daily decisions
  Faith informs work, family, and personal integrity.

Point II – God Straightens Paths Through Love and Faithfulness

• Love and faithfulness reflect God’s character
  Hebrew hesed and emet.
• Faith must be visible

• Integrity gains favor with God and people
  Faith and action run together.

Point III – God Directs Those Who Fully Trust Him

• Trust the Lord with all your heart

• Reject self-reliance
  Humility invites guidance.
• Acknowledge God in all ways
  He makes the path smooth and safe.

Closing Call

When we trust, obey, and surrender, God Himself straightens our paths. Let us walk forward with faith.
