Scripture: 1 John 4:7–12
Beloved brothers and sisters, why is our world filled with hatred and division? People long to be loved, yet forget to love. But true love comes from God — the source of all love that transcends race, culture, and nation.
The Apostle John wrote this letter to believers who were losing their sense of love due to false teachings and conflicts. He reminds them: “Let us love one another, for love comes from God.” (1 John 4:7) Today, we will see three truths about God’s love that embraces all nations.
1 John was written around AD 90–95 to believers in Asia Minor. The Gnostic heresy at the time separated knowledge from love. John reaffirmed that true faith is proven in love. God’s love is not limited to Israel — it is revealed to the whole world through Jesus Christ.
“Love comes from God.” The Greek word agapē means unconditional, self-giving love. Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. True love flows from a relationship with Him.
For workers, students, and parents — this means serving with sincerity, helping without reward, and respecting others without prejudice.
Cross Reference: John 15:12 — “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”
Transition: Since love comes from God, it is also revealed in His greatest act — sending His Son.
“This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world.” The word phaneroō means “to make visible.” God’s invisible love became visible in Jesus Christ.
Jesus died not for one nation but for all humanity. His love breaks barriers, forgives sins, and unites people as one family of God.
Cross Reference: Romans 5:8 — “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Transition: Because God loved us through Christ, we must now express that love to others.
“Since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” The Greek word teleioō (to be perfected) means love reaches its goal when it flows through us.
No one has ever seen God, but when we love one another, His love is made visible. Our acts of forgiveness, compassion, and unity display God’s heart to all nations.
Cross Reference: Matthew 5:16 — “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Beloved, God’s love is not for a few — it is for all. We are called to be channels of His love in workplaces, homes, and among all peoples. Let us reflect His heart for the nations, that the world may know His grace.
God’s love crosses every land, Binding hearts with gentle hand, Live His truth, obey His plan, That all may know the Son of Man.
Ask yourself: do others see God’s love through you? Let us go forth as His witnesses — bringing the light of His love to all nations and peoples.
