Scripture: Jeremiah 23:5-6
“The days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land. In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The LORD Our Righteous Savior.”
During Jeremiah’s time, Israel lived in fear and injustice. God promised hope through a “Righteous Branch” from David’s line—Jesus Christ. He would bring justice, peace, and salvation. The Hebrew word ṣemaḥ (Branch) means new growth—symbolizing new hope in Christ, the Prince of Peace.
The word “righteous” (tsaddiq) means living according to God’s truth. Jesus came to bring justice and teach love. True peace comes from righteousness.
Cross Reference: Isaiah 9:6 – “He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Since Jesus is the Righteous King, we must live according to His truth.
The name “The LORD Our Righteousness” (YHWH Tsidqenu) shows that peace and righteousness come from God Himself. When Jesus was born, the angels declared peace on earth (Luke 2:14).
Cross Reference: John 14:27 – “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you.”
If Jesus gives peace, how can we share that peace with others?
Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” (Matthew 5:9). God’s children spread peace at home, school, and church.
Cross Reference: Romans 12:18 – “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”
Ask: “Who has ever had a fight with a friend?” Then ask, “How did it feel after you made peace?”
Say: “Today we’ll learn about Jesus who brings peace for everyone!”
Jesus came as the Prince of Peace. When He lives in our hearts, we can live in peace with others. Let’s show peace and love to everyone, starting at home.
Response: “Lord Jesus, make me a peacemaker like You.”
Two kids fought over a toy. Later, one said, “I’m sorry, I still love you.” They smiled and played again.
— That’s how Jesus teaches peace: not avoiding fights, but choosing love and forgiveness.
